Indications
Habb-e-Nishat is a traditional Unani pill (habb means pill) made from a mixture of herbs and other natural ingredients. It is traditionally used by adult men for sexual weakness, low sexual desire, early tiredness and general weakness. Scientific evidence for these uses is very limited. It is not a proven treatment for erectile dysfunction or infertility, and these problems can be signs of other health conditions that need a doctor.
How It Works
The herbs in such formulas are traditionally believed to act as tonics that improve energy, blood flow and nerve function. Some traditional sexual tonic formulas contain potent ingredients, such as nux vomica (kuchla), that act strongly on the nervous system. How the specific formula works has not been well studied.
Dosage and Administration
Take only as directed on the label or by a registered Unani practitioner. Never take more than the stated amount, as some ingredients in traditional tonic pills can be harmful in higher doses. For adult men only; not for children or women.
Interactions
Take care if you use medicines for the heart or blood pressure, such as nitrates (for example Glyceryl trinitrate or Isosorbide), or medicines for erectile problems such as Sildenafil or Tadalafil, as combined effects are not known. Avoid taking it with alcohol. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines and herbal products you use.
Contraindications
- Heart disease, recent heart attack or stroke, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- Epilepsy or a history of fits.
- Severe liver or kidney disease.
- Children, and women (especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding).
- Known allergy to any ingredient.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include stomach upset, a feeling of heat, headache, restlessness, poor sleep and a fast heartbeat.
Get urgent medical help if you notice chest pain, a racing or irregular heartbeat, muscle stiffness or twitching, fits, severe headache, an erection lasting more than 4 hours, or swelling of the face, lips or throat with difficulty breathing.
Pregnancy and Lactation
This product is intended for adult men. It must not be used by women during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions and Warnings
Erection problems and low sexual desire can be early signs of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, hormone problems or depression, so see a doctor for a proper check. People with heart, liver or kidney disease, diabetes or high blood pressure should talk to a doctor before using any sexual tonic. Buy only from trusted sources, as some products sold for sexual weakness have been found to contain hidden prescription medicines.
Overdose
Taking too much may be dangerous, especially if the formula contains potent ingredients, and may cause restlessness, muscle stiffness, twitching, fits, a racing heartbeat and breathing problems. Seek emergency medical help straight away.
