Indications
Sharbat Chylosin is a Unani herbal syrup (“sharbat” means syrup). It is traditionally used to support the liver and digestion, for complaints such as poor appetite, indigestion, a feeling of fullness and general weakness linked in Unani teaching to a sluggish liver. Scientific evidence for these uses is limited. It is not a treatment for hepatitis, jaundice, fatty liver disease or cirrhosis, which need proper medical care.
How It Works
Unani liver syrups combine herbs that are traditionally believed to strengthen the liver, improve the flow of bile and help digestion. The exact ingredients vary by manufacturer, so read the label of your bottle. Its effects have not been proven in modern clinical studies.
Dosage and Administration
Take as directed on the label or by a registered Unani practitioner. Shake the bottle well and measure the dose with the cup or spoon provided. Do not take more than the recommended amount. If symptoms do not improve within two weeks, see a doctor.
Interactions
Herbal syrups can interact with other medicines, and some herbs affect how the liver handles drugs. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about everything you take, especially blood thinners such as Warfarin, diabetes medicines, epilepsy medicines and medicines for tuberculosis or HIV.
Contraindications
- Allergy to any ingredient listed on the pack.
- Children, unless advised by a doctor or registered practitioner.
