Aab-E Hayat
Indications
Aab-e Hayat is a Unani herbal tonic taken by mouth. The name means "water of life". It is traditionally used as a general tonic for tiredness, weakness, poor appetite and low energy, for example during recovery after an illness. Scientific evidence for these uses is limited. Ongoing tiredness or weakness can be a sign of conditions such as anaemia, thyroid disease, diabetes or depression, so it should be checked by a doctor.
How It Works
Unani tonics combine herbs and other natural ingredients that are traditionally believed to strengthen the main organs (heart, brain and liver in Unani teaching), improve appetite and restore vitality. The exact ingredients vary by manufacturer, so read the label of your pack. Its effects have not been proven in modern clinical studies.
Dosage and Administration
Take as directed on the label or by a registered Unani practitioner. If it is a liquid, shake well and measure the dose with the cup or spoon provided. Do not take more than the recommended amount. If you do not feel better after a few weeks, see a doctor.
Interactions
Herbal tonics can interact with other medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about everything you take, especially medicines for diabetes, blood pressure or heart problems, and blood thinners such as Warfarin.
