How to Take It

Adults and children over 2 years take the same dose. Threadworm: 100 mg as a single dose, repeated after 2 weeks. Roundworm, hookworm and whipworm: 100 mg twice a day for 3 days, or 500 mg once. Tablets can be chewed or swallowed.

Who Should Not Take It

Do not take it if you are allergic to Mebendazole. Do not give it to children under 2 or use it in pregnancy unless a doctor advises it.

Side Effects

Usually mild: stomach pain, diarrhoea or nausea. Rarely: rash or itching.

Precautions

For threadworm, treat everyone in the house at the same time, wash hands and scrub nails often, and wash bedding and underwear in hot water.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Avoid in pregnancy, especially the first 3 months, unless a doctor advises it. Ask your doctor before using it while breastfeeding.

Interactions

Do not take it with Metronidazole (a rare serious skin reaction has been reported). Cimetidine can raise its level.
