About the Medicine

Habb-E Mumsik

Indications

Habb-e-Mumsik is a classical Unani compound pill (habb means pill, mumsik means one that holds back or delays). It is traditionally used by men to delay ejaculation in premature ejaculation, and as a general sexual tonic. Scientific evidence for these uses is very limited. Some traditional formulas of this type include potent ingredients such as Nux vomica (Kuchla, which contains strychnine) or opium-derived substances, so these products must be used with great caution and only as directed.

How It Works

In Unani theory the herbs in this formula are believed to strengthen the nerves and the organs involved in sexual function and to reduce sensitivity, so that ejaculation is delayed. Potent ingredients such as Nux vomica act on the nervous system, and opium-type substances can reduce sensation and delay ejaculation, but both carry serious risks if the dose is too high. The overall effect of the preparation has not been properly studied.

Dosage and Administration

Take only as directed on the label or by a registered Unani practitioner, and never more than the stated dose. Do not take extra pills if there is no effect. Do not combine with other sexual tonics or herbal products. Premature ejaculation often improves with counselling, behavioural techniques or medical treatment, so it is worth seeing a doctor.

Interactions

  • Sedatives, sleeping medicines, strong painkillers such as Tramadol or Codeine, and alcohol: increased drowsiness and slowed breathing if the product contains opium-type ingredients.
  • Medicines for depression, epilepsy or other nerve conditions: possible interaction with nerve-acting ingredients.
  • Sildenafil, Tadalafil, Dapoxetine and other sexual medicines: do not combine without medical advice.
  • Nitrate medicines for chest pain: avoid combining with any sexual enhancement product unless a doctor advises it.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines and herbal products you use.
