About the Medicine

Sensitive & Reactive Skin (SENSIBIO)

Indications

This is a skin-care range made for sensitive and reactive skin, meaning skin that easily becomes red, itchy, tight, stinging or irritated with weather changes, cosmetics or stress. It includes gentle cleansing gels or micellar water, soothing moisturising creams and eye-area products. It is used for daily cleansing and care to calm discomfort and protect the skin barrier, and may help skin prone to redness or mild seborrhoeic dermatitis (flaky, red patches on the face and scalp) depending on the product. It is a cosmetic product, not a medicine.

How It Works

The products use mild cleansing agents that remove dirt and make-up without stripping natural oils, together with moisturising and soothing ingredients that support the outer protective layer of the skin. A stronger skin barrier loses less water and reacts less to outside irritants, so redness, tightness and stinging gradually reduce. They are usually fragrance-free and formulated to reduce the risk of irritation.

Dosage and Administration

Use as directed on the label of each product. Typically: use the cleanser morning and evening on damp skin, lather gently, then rinse and pat dry; apply the cream to clean, dry skin of the face and neck once or twice a day; apply eye products gently around the eye area. For external use only.

Interactions

No interactions with medicines taken by mouth are expected. Using strong exfoliants, retinoids, alcohol-based toners or harsh scrubs at the same time may increase irritation; ask a doctor or pharmacist if you are using prescription skin treatments.

Contraindications

  • Known allergy to any ingredient of the product.
  • Do not apply to broken, infected or bleeding skin unless advised by a doctor.

Side Effects

These products are generally well tolerated. Rarely, mild stinging, redness or itching may occur, especially on very reactive skin. Stop use if irritation persists.

Get urgent medical help if you develop swelling of the face, lips or eyes, a widespread rash or difficulty breathing after use.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Gentle cosmetic skin-care products are generally considered suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid applying to the nipple area while breastfeeding, and check the label or ask a pharmacist if unsure.

Precautions and Warnings

Avoid contact with the eyes for cleansers; rinse with water if this happens. Test on a small area first if your skin is very reactive. Persistent redness, rash, flaking or itching may be a skin condition that needs a doctor's assessment. Use sun protection during the day.

Overdose

Using more than needed is unlikely to cause harm but may leave a residue or cause mild irritation. If swallowed, rinse the mouth and drink water; seek medical advice if symptoms appear.

Therapeutic Class
